Re: UBA Annual Opt-Out Period
For those unfamiliar with the opt-out period, this is the designated time when members may leave their current UBA franchise and join another franchise or become a free-agent member without serving the standard 90-day suspension that applies when leaving a team outside of the opt-out period.
Please follow the proper opt-out procedure outlined below. These procedures apply
only during the official opt-out period (July 20–August 16).
How to Opt Out
All UBA members must be registered on the UBA website at www.ubatoday.info.
Members who are not registered will not be able to opt out of their team.
Franchise officers are responsible for ensuring that both current and prospective
members are registered.
Once registered, members may submit an Opt-Out Form, located in the main header
menu on the UBA website. The form will only be available during the opt-out period.
After the form is submitted, members will be assigned to the team they selected. A
UBA administrator will manually update the member’s team assignment in the UBA
database (www.ubaaverages.com).
One-Time Opt-Out Rule
Members may only opt out once during the opt-out period.
If a member opts out to one team and later decides to join a different team:
An officer from the first team must release the member.
An officer from the second team must complete the transfer.
Members who select “Undecided” on the Opt-Out Form will be placed on the
Released Bowlers List within the database. When they decide to join a franchise, the
new franchise’s owner, president, or secretary must log in to the UBA database and
request a transfer from the Released Bowlers List.
Playoff Eligibility
Members who opt out or are released from their current franchise will not be eligible to
compete in playoff matches for their new franchise during July and August.
However, these members may still participate in non-playoff events.
Battle Bowl Week Restriction
No opt-out requests will be processed during Battle Bowl Week (Aug. 3–Aug. 9).
Members are strongly encouraged to submit their opt-out requests before August 3 if
they wish to be eligible to bowl with their new franchise during Battle Bowl.
