Top 50 Motivational Rankings – 1/1/24-3/31/23

Hey there’s Hitmen!

Welcome to the Top 50! This is the part where you’re really happy, or – and this is the usual response – you wish to get motivated. Just a reminder – three of the 4 semi-finalists had the #1 at some point of the year (and the other one got to #5) so I sort of know what I’m talking about. Sometimes. But please have fun. And as for my prerequisites…

  1. Style points count.
  2. Keep in mind that with over 200 teams competing (with an increase of teams) this season, this list represents less than the top 25% of the UBA. If you’re on here, consider that some kudos.
  3. If you’re not in the Top 4 in your district, you’re not here. That means we’re getting a lot of movement early.
  4. This is for fun. Don’t get salty, get motivated.
  5. Yes, I know there’s districts with byes. And yes, if it’s a close race, sometimes teams will fall out due to said byes. I learned my lesson last year when teams with byes complained about that. When I decided to be nice and rewarded teams with extra spots, said teams didn’t make the playoffs because they didn’t get the points needed when the teams over them had byes and I looked like more of a moron than usual. This season, if you try to use that argument, I will just mention that Nice is a city in France and send you on your way. Deal with it.
  6. In the words of Andre Welbon – many teams here will not be here in August. So just enjoy it. While you can.
  7. I love all feedback, so keep it coming πŸ™‚

So here we go with the rankings….

  1. Hitmen (302 / 9: Capital 1st place: Was 2)
Hitmen are trying for another undefeated season. I’m not going to bother asking Kevin Decker what he thinks about this.
  2. New England Heat (266/ 8: NE South 1st Place Was 3)
Another team going for the undefeated season. The only thing that has stopped them so far is that pesky bye.
  3. Impact (273 / 9: DMV Central 1st Place: Was 4)
Also don’t have a loss yet this season. One thing to say about the top teams this year – they are really strong.
  4. M.O.P. Nation Militia (294 / 10: New England North 1st Place: Was 7)
Ok they take a loss, but they’ver been running over everyone in the New England North. I’m trying to figure out how they took that loss.
  5. Da Garden Foundation (226 / 8: NJNW 1st Place: Was 13)
Thie is the DGF squad that was expected – and feared – from last season.
  6. NWO Wolfpack (279 / 9: DMV North 1st Place: Was 18)
This still may be a little early to put them up this high, but….is this the changing of the guard in the DMV North?
  7. Usual Suspects (261 / 9: PA South 1st Place: Was 26)
Haven’t lost yet in 2024 and they have taken their bye. This combo usually leads to a high seed in the Post-Season.
  8. JustUs League (262 / 9: Brooklyn/Queens 1st Place / Was 37)
I’m trying to remember when a NY team in the BQ District was ranked this highly. Maybe when the Jonas Brothers was a thing.
  9. Reaper Crew (235 / 8: NJ Shore 1st place / Was 43)
Do they really go here? Yeas, they did win 3 in a row but….really? Time will tell.
  10. High Powered (251 / 9: DMV South: 1st Place / NEW)
One of the few teams that have won 5 in a row. Hence they are rewarded with a top ten spot. For now.
  11. Absolute Chaos (252 / 9: NJ South: 1st Place / NEW)
They woke up after week 3 while most of the other teams are on a siesta. How long is this going to last?
  12. Dirty South Legendz (238 / 9: Deep South: 1st Place / NEW)
Yet another team that’s gotten hot. The difference? This team has had all of the pieces for awhile. Is this the season that they put it together?
  13. Disorderly Conduct (264 / 9: Triad 1st Place: Was 1)
Yeah, they are still in first in the Triad, but you get dinged when you lose and…well…they got dinged. Ding!
  14. Striking Vipers (251 / 9: Inner Coastal 1st place: Was 50)
66-14 for the past 2 matches and a hot run before that to move them into first place puts them here.
  15. D.I.L.L.I.G.A.F. (279 / 9: Queen City 1st Place: Was 8)
Yeah, there’s that ‘Ding’ing thing again. If you think I’m a big meanie, then you’re probably right. I’m a big blue meanie ready to drop an apple on your head.
  16. Outrage (272 / 9: DMV North 1st Place: Was 16)
They’ve taken more losses this year than they have the past few years. Combined. I’m waiting for that light switch to turn back on and turn them into the killer machines that we are used to be seeing.
  17. B.U.F.U. (238 / 9: Palmetto: 1st Place / NEW)
I’ll give Leonard Freeman his props for having a belt and for having his team first in his division. Now I’m going to go to the bathroom and purify my hands for having to type that.
  18. Bulletproof (250 / 9: NJ South 2nd place: Was 6)
It’s THIS tight between them and Absolute Chaos, so there’s a good chance this is going to flip-flop. Almost a guarantee that it will happen. Almost.
  19. Smurf Nation (244 / 9: NJ South 3rd Place Was 5)
It’s THIS tight between them and Absolute Chaos and Bullet Proof, so there’s a good chance this is going to flip-flop. Almost a guarantee that it will happen. Almost. but they got jumped by both of them in the NJ South, so they get jumped here also.
  20. Stay Ready (204 / 6: Texas 1st Place NEW)
Who says I can’t stick a team from Texas here? It’s my chart, so I can do what I want. Nyah nyah nyah.
  21. DC Mafia (242 / 9): DMV South 2nd Place: Was 42)
A very strong push gets them here – and first place isn’t that far out.
  22. The Arsenal (284/ 9: NJNE 1st Place: Was 17)
Yeah they have a big lead BUT they haven’t looked great in their wins. Sure they have time to galvanize, but if they were a magic act, they would be called The Great Sloppinis.
  23. BC Crew (228 / 8: Long Island / 1st Place: Was 23)
So why are they in first despite taking a loss or 2? Because Royal Flush – who’s one point behind them, took their bye and BC Crew did not. So expect BC Crew’s stay in first in Long Island to be fleeting.
  24. Fearless (225 / 9: Virginia 1st Place: Was 40)
Still in first, but by the absolute slimmest of margins.
  25. All In! (228 / 9: PA North 1st Place: Was 45)
They rebounded, but they are in prime form to do what they usually do and that’s fold earlier than they’d like. They need some more chips for fortification.
  26. Beast Squad (226 / 9: Sandhills 1st Place: Was 22)
They have a 28 point lead over everyone else, which means they should be ranked higher. They will have their opportunities over the next few months to prove that.
  27. Controlled Chaos (239 / 6: Metro 1st Place NEW)
It’s noce to be first – and on the Top 50. That being said, they can’t afford to be too comfy, because this has been known to be a flip flop league, and there’s plenty of points left to see that happen.
  28. Framed 4 Murda (239 / 9: DMV South 3rd Place: Was 9)
They are still doing pretty well – but they got jumped by 2 of their rivals. Still, there’s a nice gap between them and 4th.
  29. Royal Flush (221 / 7: Long Island / 2nd Place: NEW)
With the bye already taken, the flushers jave a nice opportunity to make some strides up this chart.
  30. Train Wreck (209 / 8: NJ Shore / 2nd Place NEW)
They should change their name to Train Yo-yo, because that’s what they’ve been doing on this chart. Can we have some consistency please?
  31. Murder Inc. (194 / 8: NWNJ 2nd Place: Was 14)
The points dictate that they need to be down here. We all know they are not going to be down here come the playoffs. This is the exact definition of a sleeper team in a cutthroat NJNW.
  32. City Morgue (229 / 9: Metro 2nd place: Was 15)
Well, someone has to be down here. And I knooooowwww I’m going to be called out for not respecting them. Such is life.
  33. Beach Brawlers (243 / 9: Inner Coastal 2nd Place: was 21)
Sure they moved up in their standings – buuuuut they had chances to move into first place and blew them. So I can’t reward them when other teams have had the same opportunities and took advantage of them. Sorry, not sorry.
  34. The Risen (224 / 9: Virginia 2nd Place: NEW)
This is another team that always finds a way to, if not make the playoffs, give themselves a shot to get there. Case in point.
  35. New World Order (232 / 8: Triad 2nd Place: NEW)
Randy McWilliams team, though not the start they wanted, could wind up getting the finish they desire with them only 32 points down on Disorderly Conduct, who still need to take their bye.
  36. South Jersey Strike Force (228 / 9: PA North / 1st Place / Was 27)
This ranking may have been a lot better if they didn’t lose their last match and have All In! jump them in the process. Oops.
  37. Outkasts (250 / 9: Capital 2nd Place / Was 29)
This is sort of like The Raiders looking at the Kansas City Chiefs. You’re going to have a good season, but you’re not beating the Chiefs. Replace Chiefs with Hitmen, and you’ll see the issue that’s being presented here.
  38. Lane Crashers (244 / 9: Brooklyn/Queens 2nd Place / NEW)
Just a reminder that the BQ is one of the tougher divisions in the UBA, and you can see these teams rotating in and out like a Super Bowl tailgate barbecue party.
  39. Wrecking Crew (244 / 9: Brooklyn/Queens 2nd Place / NEW)
    Like I said. Heh.
  40. Secret Society (234 / 10: PA South: 3rd NEW)
I know I’m going to be whined at for them being ranked too low – and maybe they are – but the numbers state that this is where they go.
  41. High Caliber (224 / 9: Deep South 2nd Place / NEW)
This is a team that started out strong then went into hibernation. Spring time is here and it’s time to re-emerge from whatever slumber they have been in.
  42. Augusta Reign (214 / 9: Palmetto 2nd Place Was 33)
They are still going back and forth. The difference between then and now is that we are running out of matches and they don’t want to be on the wrong side of the playoff bubble.
  43. House Shot Heros (262 / 10: New England North 3rd Place: NEW)
Welcome to the Top 50 – though their schedule is backloaded, so if they don’t produce, their stay will be very very brief.
  44. Rival Alliance (254 / 10: PA South 2nd Place Was 46)
They are safe to be in the playoffs, BUT they did not take their bye, so they get to watch the first placed Usual Suspects – who did take their bye – run very far away from them.
  45. The Tribe (225 / 9: Metro 3rd Place: Was NEW)
The schedule smiles on them the rest of the way. Can they smile back?
  46. Identity Crisis (262 / 10: New England North 3rd Place: NEW)
The next few matches against the top teams in their district will determine if they enter the playoffs in the single digits or in the 20’s.
  47. On a MIssion (228 / 9: NJ South 4th Place: NEW)
Are they here because they are one of the better teams in the UBA or are they here because 2 of the teams in the district have less than 100 points?
  48. Hot Pockets (232 / 9: DMV Central: 2nd: NEW)
If they need a time to get piping hot, it’s now, when playoff spots are on the line.
  49. Synergy (230 / 9: Inner Coastal 3rd Place: Was 19)
They fell from first to third and took some losses they should not have taken. Hence, the positioning represents this.
  50. Capital City Hitters (238 / 9: Capital 3rd Place: NEW)
They aren’t surprising anyone this year with how good they are. Maybe themselves.

NEXT 5 IN: Da Hit Squad, The Fallout, Magna Carta, The Watchmen, Hell Yeah
