Metro North Tour Stop 3 Predictions

Two stops in, and my picks have been pretty good so far. Actually not really – they’ve been outstanding. Some of the point distribution does surprise me, though. But as we all know this is a long season, and things are bound to change over time. Lots of matchups to come, after all. For now, let’s look at this weekend’s competition.

Royalty On Da Lanes (4th | 46-34) vs BOA (10th | 30-50)

This one could be a lot closer than the numbers would initially suggest. With both of these teams coming off a win, this early season matchup could determine something extremely important in the UBA season tour, and ensuing playoffs – momentum.  

Prediction: While BOA could most certainly grind out a win here, Royalty On Da Lanes will probably take this one. Should be very close, though.

Apocalypse (2nd | 60-20) vs Secret Invasion (3rd | 52-28)

Here’s a possible preview of a future position round, and also potential playoff matchup beyond that. Two very strong teams in a match that should produce some impressive scores on both sides.

Prediction: I’m going to take Secret Invasion in this one, for a few reasons. One being that my predictions will never be exactly by-the-numbers, where I pick the higher ranked team in every situation. The other is that I don’t think Secret Invasion will only bring 8 bowlers this time.

Team Beloved (12th | 18-62) vs City Morgue (1st | 67-13)

While some of my predictions definitely won’t be by-the-numbers, some absolutely will.

Prediction: Morgue wins. They’re the better team. But this is also your shot, Team Beloved. Show everyone that you can be that new underdog to fear. I just don’t think it will happen.

Class aXe (9th | 31-49) vs The Tribe (t.6th | 38-42)

Ummmmmmm, what the hell is going on here, guys? Two playoff contenders – consisting of a previous Elite 8 qualifier as well as one of the teams a lot of people would’ve picked to run away with the division – and you both have losing records? I know, I know… it’s still early. Yes, I know. Now get y’all’s acts together and bowl.

Prediction: Even with the rankings the way they are, I still think Class aXe is a team to be feared. I also think Tribe is a sleeping monster, but right now I am just wondering when they’re gonna wake up. At one point I would’ve said this was a potential playoff preview, but now both of these teams just need to win this match to start correcting their season. Class aXe wins. Probably. I really don’t know anything anymore though.

Devilz Rejects (11th | 28-52) vs Area 51-8 (t.6th | 38-42)

So what am I going to say about this one? Honestly… underdogs are the scariest thing in the world to me. I’d rather take a shot at the champ than be in the ring against someone who has something to prove to everyone, and who is capable of doing it.

Prediction: Area 51-8 wins. Please go read my previous articles if you need an explanation.

Controlled Chaos (8th | 32-48) vs Da Royalty (5th | 40-40)

At the beginning of the season, I picked Da Royalty as my dark horse from the Metro North. So far, it looks like they’re off to a decent start. But this is a matchup between two 1-1 teams, separated only by 8 points and a handful of pins. This match should be another close one.

Prediction: Da Royalty wins in what I predict to be an absolute grind, probably keeping them somewhere in the top third of the divisional rankings after 3 stops.
