Northeast World Championship Series Predictions

NORTHEAST HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
CHAMPION: Ducky Russell (Jer-Z Outlawz)
Vs.
CHALLENGER: George Bakshys (Hounds Of War)

THOUGHTS: One of the biggest upsets of the year – at least on paper – was when Ducky Russell won the Heavyweight title from Miguel Acobo. And on paper it looks like this would also be a mis-match…except that Lodi is the great equalizer, Bakshys has been ice cold and Russell has been red hot as of late. Add Rusell’s mental game and this could be a lot closer than advertised. I think we get a new champion, but I’m not sure this is an upset if we don’t.
PICK: Bakshys in 7

NORTHEAST VIXENS TITLE MATCH
CHAMPION: Hermie Hannibal (Silent Killerz)
Vs.
CHALLENGER: Leigh Buickerood (Syndicate)

THOUGHTS: Unlike the Heavyweight Match, this looks like a great match on paper. Hannibal is looking to keep her title, but can the New York Hall-Of-Famer hold on against a former champion who wants another run with the belt? This is going to be a fun match and I think youth gets another run with the title.
PICK: Buickerood in 6

NORTHEAST CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
CHAMPION: Raul Renteria (Dysfunctional Bowlers)
Vs.
CHALLENGER: Tyrone Curry (Powerhouse)

THOUGHTS: Before everyone screams that Raul will successfully hold on to the belt, I’d like to remind everyone that two of the three times that he has dropped the belt, it’s been at Lodi Lanes. Does that mean he will do it again? Curry needs to do what Carlos Jimenez did – be aggressive and force Renteria to press and make mistakes. Will Curry do that? Or will the magic towel once again prevail?
PICK: Renteria in  6

NORTHEAST WELTERWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
CHAMPION: Lore Galan (BOA)
Vs.
CHALLENGER: Theodore Rampersant (Revolution)
THOUGHTS: Galan has showed that he’s more than a one trick champion. This is going to be another challenger from the Northeast Corridor in the form of Rampersant. Rampersant has the tools, but does he have the experience when it comes down to crunch time? That sides with the champion, but ever so slightly.
PICK: Galan in 7

NORTHEAST CLASSIC TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
CHAMPIONS: Raul Renteria/Bryan Andes (Dysfunctional Bowlers)
Vs.
CHALLENGERS: Eddie Williams/Karla Pereira (Secret Society)

THOUGHTS: This is – far and away – The Dysfunctional Bowlers’ biggest threat to the titles since the Mazza / Hedges combo. Usually the best bowler in the foursome is Renteria, but in this case, it’s Pereira. The former Vixen’s champion is 100% ready to go, and if she can keep Williams on track, then this is a huge threat for the title. Could this be the time that the belts fall?
