March 2020 was a big month in the UBA as the season hit its midway point with Mega Bowl, which featured another successful Title Match defense from World Champion Dennis Killough (King’s Court).
As Mega Bowl was within days of taking place, news of COVID-19 was becoming more widespread. People were doubting if Mega Bowl was going to happen at, but Mega Bowl went on as scheduled. As Killough successfully defended his world title for the 3rd consecutive time, the match was overshadowed by even bigger news…the country was beginning to shutdown from this virus. On Sunday, March 15th, 2020, the final day of Mega Bowl, the message to put the UBA on hold was released.
The World Championship Series in the Northeast did not have their title matches for the month of March and to this day, still have not had their title matches. Nine months later, the World Championship Series in the North east will finally have their title matches!
NORTHEAST VIXENS TITLE MATCH – Saturday December 19th 11am @ Crofton Bowling Centre, Crofton, MD)
SAGIRAH WHEELER (APEX PREDATORS, 6-0) VS. YVETTE FORD (BOARDWALK EMPIRE, 6-1)
This matchup features two bowlers riding a hot streak heading into March. Wheeler had won the Vixens belt from Kayla Jones in January in dominating fashion at 30 Strikes. Then!… Wheeler improved on her performance at the Northeast Unholy Alliance at Westbrook Lanes against a tough Diana Walter. Walter was good that day…Wheeler was great that day! Has the pandemic cooled off the current champion? In the other corner is an opponent Wheeler is familiar with. Yvette Ford, coming off a win a couple weeks ago vs. Khadijah McGill, will get her first title shot in her short WCS career. Ford, also from the same area of the UBA map as Wheeler, faced off with the current champion back in November 2019 in which Ford suffered her only lost to date on the Vixens list.
Who comes out on top in this title match, the first title match since the pandemic took place? Has Ford gained enough experience in her last match to get comfortable in WCS again to give her an edge against Wheeler? Or will the champion pick up where she left off back in February at Westbrook Lanes, continuing to dominate the competition?
