The cold is right now where some teams are being left out in. That’s not a good feeling this early. But it’s a very nice feeling for some teams that you don’t expect in playoff spots – not to mention Donnell Plummer finally reaching the top of the mountain. Let’s do a post-up on this week.
1. Respect the X and the Cowbell
X-Men and Lane Crashers are showing no signs of slowing down from last season. They have shown that they have something to prove and so far, so good. Can anyone slow them down?
2. Donnell Plummer is your new Northeast Welterweight Champion
Plummer (NY Legendz) had a long grueling 7 game match and had to pull it out at the end against former champion Jessica Del Valle. In an early candidate for Match of the Year (at least on the Welterweight side), this bout had everything going on. Congratulations to Plummer.
3. Is it over in the NY North already?
The Top 4 teams in the NY North have a 22 point edge over everyone else. Sure it’s only 2 matches, but if a team wants to get in there, they need to start winning sooner than later.
4. What are those teams doing there?
A bunch of teams that traditionally don’t sniff the playoffs are right now making headway. AC Express, Southampton Samurai, Morrisville Bulldogz, and Bowlerama Bashers are now in. Can they stay there?
5. NY East is a giant cluster.
There’s 12 teams in that district. 3rd-11th are separated by 10 points and even last is not out of it. Usually the NJNE is the district where you flip a coin as to who’s getting in, but NY East, if they keep doing this, may challenge them for the most drama-packed squad this season.
